President Emeritus, California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) AASCU-Penson Center for Professional Development John D. Welty has served as a University President for 29 years at two AASCU institutions (Fresno State, Indiana University of Pennsylvania). At Fresno State he expanded the university’s regional and global outreach initiatives, increased private fundraising, launched student success initiatives, strengthened campus diversity, innovation, service and community engagement. Over twenty of the vice-presidents and deans who have served with him have gone on to university chancellorships /presidencies.
