Dr. Jairy C. Hunter Jr. is the President Emeritus of Charleston Southern University (CSU), having served as the institution's president for 34 years. Under his leadership, CSU underwent a period of significant expansion, transitioning from a small college to a comprehensive university with a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr. Hunter is widely recognized for his expertise in university administration, strategic financial planning, and organizational development. During his tenure, he prioritized the integration of faith and learning while overseeing major capital improvements and the growth of the university's endowment. Before his long-standing presidency at CSU, he held various senior administrative and faculty positions in the higher education sector. He holds a Ph. D. from Duke University and has been a prominent voice in South Carolina’s academic and civic communities for decades.
