Join Brad Johnson and David Smith for a timely conversation on their book, Fair Share: How Men and Women Can Create a More Equitable Workplace Together. As organizations strive to attract, retain, and advance top talent, persistent “ideal worker” norms continue to limit progress—placing disproportionate burdens on women while constraining men who want to be equal partners at home and fully engaged beyond work.
In this session, Johnson and Smith will explore why workplace inequity is not just a women’s issue—it’s a systemic leadership issue. Drawing on decades of research in psychology, sociology, and organizational behavior, they offer a practical blueprint for change, focused on reshaping workplace culture, investing meaningfully in caregiving policies and benefits, and embedding gender fairness into core processes and leadership practices.
Together, they will examine how leaders can dismantle structural barriers that hold everyone back—and what becomes possible when men and women work in partnership to create more equitable, sustainable organizations.
Dr. Johnson, a professor of psychology at the U.S. Naval Academy and noted expert on mentoring and professional ethics, and Dr. Smith, associate professor at the U.S. Naval War College and co-author of Athena Rising, bring deep expertise in gender, leadership, and organizational culture.
The session will conclude with a live audience Q&A.
BlueSteps members and non-members are welcome to register. The post-event recording will be available exclusively to BlueSteps members.
