BlueSteps ECS Messenger System FAQ


This is the FAQ page where we list out how to use the new system along with tutorial videos, and Frequently Asked Questions. I’ve included everything I think is relevant for an ECS Advisor to know during the beginning of our transition to the new system. As we all get more familiar with the system and new questions come up, new features get added this document will be updated as well.

How to access your Leads:

  1. Log into your account at
  2. Clicks on “Content” on the lefthand menu
  3. Click on “ECS Messenger”
  4. All your leads will be visible on the screen

How to review a lead’s details and send them a message:

  1. Once you are on the Leads page click on “View” under the “Action Column”
    1. This will open up the details of that particular lead
  2. You will need to click on “Mark Reviewed” in the upper righthand corner of the page
    1. Note: You won’t be able to send the candidate a message without doing this first
  3. You will have a summary of the candidate’s details in the upper left hand corner under “Case Information”
    1. This will contain information about whether they have a promo code or not, Employment Status, Career Services History, what opportunities they are looking to invest in, LinkedIn URL, Case status, the assigned advisor, assisting advisor, as well as what they would like to focus on in their call.
  4. You will find the Discussion board below the General Information section
  5. The Discussion Board is divided into two sections
    1. Internal Discussion: To be used to communicate internally with your Assisting Advisor, Simeon, as well as a log of actions
    2. Chat Directly with Customer: This is where you can send messages, documents, feedback to the customer you are working with
  6. Note: The message box size is adjustable, simply click and hold on the lines in the lower right hand corner of the message box and drag it down

How to Create an Offer:

  1. Click on “View” under the Action column on your Leads page
  2. Click on “Make an Offer” in the upper right corner of the page
  3. Select the Product you want to offer to the candidate
  4. Set a “Custom Price” and the “Offer Comment (Public)”
    1. The fields in step 3 and 4 are required to send an offer out
  5. If you know the customer is using a coupon code you can enter that, and you can also add an internal comment
    1. These are both optional fields
  6. Click on “Save Offer”. It is the orange button in the upper right corner and confirm the price of the product
  7. The offer will now be visible in the new “Offers” section of the details page of this particular lead
  8. If there are other services you want to send the candidate, repeat steps 2 through 6 until you’ve created all the offers to the candidate

Once you created the offers, the customer will automatically be emailed that the offer was sent to them. Once the customer has paid, you will also receive an email stating that the customer has paid for their services and you are good start working with them.

How to access the old BlueSteps System:

  1. Log into BlueSteps from using your old credentials
  2. After you log in paste the following link into your browser
    1. com/admin
  3. You should be redirected to your Leads page where you’ll be able to review your conversations with your old leads
