The University of Dayton is seeking a Vice President for Academic Research (VPAR) to lead and develop the new Office of Academic Research, grow the university's portfolio of academic research, scholarship, and creative works, and advance the institution's mission and strategic priorities. The VPAR will work collaboratively with the Vice President for UDRI to support a wider range of research and scholarly activity involving undergraduate and graduate students, academic units, and collaborative work between faculty and UDRI staff. The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Office of Academic Research, develop a vision for academic research, and enhance a comprehensive and innovative academic research enterprise.
Our client, a top-tier national Catholic research university, currently serves over 11,000 students and has a total sponsored research portfolio of $238.6 million. The VPAR will report to the provost and executive vice president of academic affairs, promoting a collaborative and entrepreneurial academic research environment, driving strategic expansion of research activities, growing research revenue, expanding undergraduate student research, and contributing to the university's anchor institution and partner university strategy. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, budgetary, and management skills, as well as an appreciation for our client's Catholic and Marianist mission to advance academic research, scholarship, and creative activity at the university.
