Ballmer Group Philanthropy is seeking a Senior Portfolio Manager (SPM) for Economic Mobility in Southeast Michigan. The ideal candidate will apply business skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a passion for impact-driven work to improve economic mobility for children and families in the region. The SPM will develop, lead, and shepherd key strategic and policy initiatives that align with our client's strategies and priorities, overseeing a grantee portfolio to ensure improved outcomes for kids and families in Southeast Michigan. They will work closely with the Executive Director - Southeast Michigan (SEMI) to develop a programmatic investment and policy framework, manage grant processes, and collaborate with external partners to drive meaningful change.
The SPM will be based in Detroit and expected to have a deep understanding of the region, state, and key stakeholders, with a focus on addressing systemic inequities and barriers to economic mobility. Responsibilities include developing a theory of change, identifying and analyzing initiatives aligned with our client's strategies, and collaborating with partners to advance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-level roles relevant to our client's mission, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to equity and social justice.
