A global bank is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their legal team in a generalist role reporting to the General Counsel. The Senior Counsel will provide legal advice and services to management and business departments on commercial banking transactions, vendor agreements, litigation matters, legal and regulatory requirements, and corporate governance issues. Responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and reviewing complex legal documents related to commercial banking, credit, and vendors, as well as working closely with business lines to identify and mitigate risks. The Senior Counsel will also assign, monitor, and provide guidance to outside counsel, review and update internal policies and procedures, and handle civil information subpoenas and other inquiries.
The successful candidate will have a JD and be admitted to the NY State Bar, with at least 6 years of experience in financial services legal, ideally from a top law firm and in-house within banking. Strong communication skills, the ability to work well in a team, and fluency in Mandarin are desirable qualities. The position offers a competitive base salary, bonus, and additional benefits.
