Description

ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA). The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine is seeking an experienced hematopathologist to direct and lead our academic Hematopathology Section. Appointment will be at the Associate or Professor level, commensurate with experience, accomplishments, and track record of academic achievement. The ideal candidate will have at least five years post-hematopathology fellowship experience, an established leadership acumen, and a history of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and matrixed organization. Formal training and certification in molecular genetic pathology is desired. The successful candidate will lead and grow all aspects of the Hematopathology Section (clinical service, research, and education) in alignment with the goals of the Department, which include efforts to integrate molecular and genetic pathology more deeply into the specialty practices. Our team of nine hematopathologists support the University Hospitals and Comprehensive Cancer Center at Michigan Medicine, which provide general academic hospital services and specialized hematologic malignancy care (including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation) for adult and pediatric patients. The diagnostic hematopathology team interprets bone marrow and lymph node biopsies originating from our local clinical programs, as well as from a robust extramural consultation service. The section includes a state-of-the art flow cytometry laboratory and is supported by high-quality cytogenetics, molecular, and hematology laboratories. Abundant opportunities to develop and/or participate in basic, applied, and translational research programs exist within the Department of Pathology, which has over 214 faculty and consistently ranks in the top 10 nationally for NIH funding. The section serves patients and world-class providers at Michigan Medicine Health as well as patients referred through our national reference laboratory service, MLabs. Ann Arbor is ranked one of the most livable, best educated, and best cities for retirement in the country.
