Opportunity Details
Durham University is looking for three lay members to join the University Council, including a Chair of Audit Committee, a Chair of the Finance Committee, and an additional lay member. These individuals will provide strategic insight and challenge to the Senior Team, ensuring the university remains well governed and financially stable. Ideal candidates will have experience in areas such as audit, finance, and property and estate development, with the Audit Chair requiring a formal finance or accounting qualification. Council meets six times per year in person in Durham, with committees typically meeting five times per year in an online or hybrid setting. Members serve an initial three-year term with the potential for an additional three-year term.
The incoming lay members will have the skills, experience, and connections to support Durham University in delivering its 2017-2027 strategy and preparing for the future. The Chair of the Finance Committee and the lay member will have the opportunity to join the Council as observers for one year before fully joining in August 2025.
