Description

The General Manager Finance and Assurance role is a key leadership position within our client, responsible for overseeing financial performance, risk management, asset stewardship, procurement, facilities management, and business development. This newly enhanced role involves leading a team of approximately twenty people and shaping the function to ensure that the Council's core services add value to its communities. Key areas of focus include strategic financial leadership, overseeing day-to-day financial operations, planning, reporting, treasury management, and leading the development and monitoring of the multi-year capital program.Additionally, the General Manager Finance and Assurance will be responsible for identifying commercial opportunities to generate income related to Council land and property, public transport, and solar farm developments. They will also lead the financial aspects of the long-term plan and annual plan, report to the Audit & Risk Committee, senior management, CE, and Council on finance and assurance matters, and lead the replacement of the financial and contract management system. The role also involves contributing towards building and maintaining positive relationships with all Papatipu R?nanga within the Waitaha Canterbury region and Te R?nanga o Ng?i Tahu.
