The client was originally established in 2002 by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) to ensure low-income residents living in HACLA properties or receiving Section 8 assistance have access to social, health, educational, and work opportunities. BHI's mission is to advance economic equity and overall well-being within HACLA communities. HACLA has provided staffing to manage BHIs operations since its inception, but now aims to invest in developing BHI's organizational capacity for greater impact and sustainable growth. This strategic investment will provide BHI with greater independence to expand its reach and deepen its impact within the communities it serves.
