The ideal candidate for this position will have strong leadership experience in the public, community, or private sectors, with a focus on improving the quality of life for the indigenous community. They must have a deep understanding of contemporary health care issues as they pertain to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and be able to create a culturally safe health service and working environment. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate effective strategic planning and policy development skills, as well as experience in leading change programs in complex multi-disciplinary settings. In addition to leadership and strategic planning skills, the incoming Director must have a strong understanding of Aboriginal communities in South Australia and established relationships within these communities. They must also possess knowledge of public health operations to be successful in this role. An inclusive and engaging approach to working with Aboriginal people and maintaining cultural integrity at both a systemic and personal level will be crucial for the appointee to excel in this position.
