The mission of CHHP is to improve health, well-being, and quality of life. By providing instruction, conducting research, and performing service in health education, human development and family science, interior design and merchandising, kinesiology, recreation science, social work and military sciences, the college strives to advance and disseminate knowledge related to the enhancement of health, physical performance, and the quality of life of individuals and communities, particularly those in eastern North Carolina. The third largest college at ECU, CHHP is a community of scholars that uses multidisciplinary perspectives and diverse career paths to present dynamic opportunities for its constituents. Faculty, trainees, and staff possess degrees, expertise, and industry experience in fields that include public health, education, law, social work, counseling, architecture, sport, recreation, fitness, merchandising, business, medicine, human services, and many others. The CHHP programs emphasize hands-on learning to foster intellectual curiosity and the cultivation of technical and enduring skills that develop learners into marketable practitioners. The new dean will hold outstanding academic credentials including an earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree from an accredited institution and possess an academic record that merits appointment as a full professor in one of the CHHP departments. Exceptional communication skills, and relevant administrative experience in an academic setting are required. This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in North Carolina. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. ECU has retained Diversified Search Group to assist in this recruitment.
