Description

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the NSF Upstate New York Energy Storage Engine (NENY-SE). The CEO will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of projects involving academic, industry, non-profit, and government stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, project management experience, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will also need to collaborate effectively with various partners, resolve conflicts, and work under pressure to achieve organizational goals. The CEO will oversee industry-directed R&D projects, support early-stage startups, and drive innovation in battery technology, material sourcing, manufacturing processes, and safety testing.

NENY-SE, a consortium led by our client, aims to establish a full battery-cycle ecosystem in Upstate New York, connecting industry stakeholders, supporting domestic development, and growing an advanced manufacturing workforce. The CEO will play a key role in driving the development and success of NENY-SE, with the potential for a longer-term role based on organizational progress. Qualifications for the position include a Bachelor's degree, ten years of senior leadership experience, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, knowledge of innovation financing, experience in managing federal grants, and expertise in higher education research and workforce development. The salary for this grant-funded position ranges from $250,000 to $300,000 annually.
