The Chair of Surgery will oversee all aspects of the clinical, educational, and research missions of the Department, with a focus on increasing market share and faculty efficiency through innovative process design. They will lead a patient-focused department that supports caregiver wellness, while also ensuring the best experience for patients. The successful candidate will possess exceptional relationship and team building skills, as well as bring an innovative systems approach to problem solving and advancing process improvement initiatives. An M.D. or D.O. degree, board certification in a surgical specialty, and eligibility for medical licensure in Maryland are required, with advanced leadership training and/or an MBA being an asset. The ideal candidate will have seven to ten years of significant leadership experience in clinical operations and financial management, as well as a nuanced understanding of both ambulatory and hospital surgical operations. They will be responsible for leading the Department through innovative initiatives to increase market share and faculty efficiency, while ensuring a patient-focused and caregiver wellness-oriented environment. The Chair of Surgery will play a key role in advancing contemporary process improvement initiatives and building consensus within the Department, with a focus on providing the best possible experience for patients.
