The Chair will be responsible for maintaining a strong academic community that promotes professional development, scholarly activity, and participation in university initiatives. Working closely with the Assistant Dean, Liberal Arts (ON), the Chair will oversee the academic management of the AoA, Liberal Arts courses within BC, students, and supervision of faculty members. This role involves university-wide governance, participation in the provincial senate, chairing committees, and leading program planning and development to ensure the quality of the AoA and enhance the reputation of Liberal Arts within the industry. The Chair will also be responsible for academic planning, governance, curriculum development, and quality assurance, collaborating with university leadership and faculty to propose and implement new programming initiatives.In addition to academic responsibilities, the Chair will oversee external relationships, representing Liberal Arts with various stakeholders. This includes nurturing relationships within the BCCAT system, ensuring the success of block transfer agreements, and developing strategic partnerships with community organizations and high schools to attract new students. The Chair will also manage relationships with regulators and licensing bodies to uphold the integrity of the program. Overall, the Chair will play a key role in advancing the academic excellence and reputation of the Liberal Arts program while fostering partnerships and collaborations within the industry and community.
